Because we are driven by the mission of Christ, Broadview planted a Church on the west side of Abilene just North of Dyess Air Force Base (6500 Military Drive). Our Mission Pastor, Vernon Ferguson, serves as the site pastor and leads the Broadview West community to show the love of Christ in tangible ways to the surrounding community. If there are people that need the love of Christ who are “outside of the box” then the church must “think outside of the box” in order to reach them. Broadview West is a place that “thinks outside of the box.”
A church’s health should not be gauged by its seating capacity but it’s sending capacity. Jesus told his disciples in John 20:21 “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” We take that mandate very seriously here at Broadview and so Mission drives everything that we do. Specifically, in the area of mission trips, people have the option of crossing the street, traveling across Texas (and other states), or flying over oceans in order to participate in World Missions. From Abilene, to the Valley, to South Africa, Broadview exists to ignite in people a passionate love for God and for others.

The ministries at Broadview Baptist Church are here not only to reach new people but also to offer a place that fosters growth and learning. We seek to minister to people of all ages and all walks of life. The first step is a relationship with Jesus Christ, which is in-turn followed by a desire through the love for Jesus Christ to share His message with those in our everyday lives. We invite you to take a look at our ministries and see how they can help you become all that God desires for you to be. Click here for a breakdown of the ministries at Broadview.
At Broadview, we believe that there is no greater gift than the grace and forgiveness that can be found in Jesus Christ. Because of that belief, we can say that we are driven by a love for people and a desire to see them come to know Him as their personal savior. We are Kingdom centered, Biblically founded and led by prayer. We put our full trust in Jesus Christ as He guides us in our daily lives.
MISSION STATEMENT:
We exist to be a Great Commandment, Great Commission, Acts 1:8 Church.
Great Commandment - “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."
- Matthew 22:37
Great Commission - "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
- Matthew 28:19
Acts 1:8 - "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
We believe two things took place in the New Testament for a person to become a member of a local church.
  • New Birth: As a person is born into the human family so a person must be spiritually born into God’s family. This happens when a person repents and turns to Jesus in faith and confesses Him as Lord.
  • Baptism: Baptism always followed the new birth experience, thus our term “believer’s baptism.”
  • HOW CAN I JOIN?
The difference between an attender and a member is commitment, a commitment to Jesus Christ, and thus to His church.
The church is God’s people living in community, covenanting together to promote and maintain the unity of the church, to fulfill the mission of the church, and to live in submission to Him who is the Head. If you would like to join us as we serve the King and His purposes you may join Broadview by:
  • Salvation: By professing your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, following Him in believer’s baptism and committing to church membership.
  • Baptism: Having previously trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you now follow Him in believer’s baptism and commit to church membership.
  • Transfer of Membership: By transferring your membership from another Baptist church and committing to membership here.
  • Statement of Faith: By statement of your faith in Jesus Christ and your baptism by immersion after salvation and committing to church membership here.
  • WHEN CAN I JOIN?
  • WORSHIP SERVICES
  • At the close of each service we have an invitation. If you are led by God's Spirit to join Broadview:
  • You can come to the front and express your decision to the pastor.
  • You can indicate your decision on the back of the tear-off in the worship guide and place it in the offering plate. Someone will follow up with you at your convenience.
  • PERSONAL APPOINTMENT
  • If you would like the pastor or a staff member to discuss church membership please call the church office (692-2360) for an appointment or use the tear-off in the worship guide.
    WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM MEMBERS?
  • The church grows larger and smaller at the same time by everyone being a part of a small group Sunday School class.
  • Every Christian is gifted to serve. Adults are expected to discover their gift and passion with help from church leaders so they can begin to serve in their God-called ministry.
  • Each member is expected to support the church so the church can fulfill her God-given mission.
